MazaCAM – software with a long history

Software history

MazaCAM is a product of the US company SolutionWare Corporation.

SolutionWare has been providing CAD / CAM software for CNC manufacturing since 1975 and can therefore look back on over 40 years of experience in this area.

MazaCAM originated in the CAM software GeoPath, which was initially designed for the creation of normal G-Code (DIN-ISO) programs.

When the company Yamazaki Mazak launched the world’s first dialog control in 1981, it was suddenly no longer possible to generate programs for the machine control using a CAM system, or to write in a normal text editor.

That was when MazaCAM was born.

The aim of Solution Ware was to create a way to create CNC programs for Mazatrol control from a PC. The MazaCAM editor was developed.

In parallel to the development of a Mazatrol editor, the company also wanted to be able to include a CAD / CAM system for this type of programming.

Thus, the existing GeoPath CAM system was linked to this Mazatrol editor, and the possibility was given to use CAD data for Mazatrol programming without having to switch to DIN ISO programs. Of course, the possibility of creating G-code programs was retained in order to be able to operate other machine types and to make the software flexible to use.

Mazak has been bringing new generations of its Mazatrol control system onto the market at regular intervals since 1981. As a result, a function for converting between the control types was developed for MazaCAM, since the individual Mazatrol controls are not compatible with each other.

MazaCAM today and in the future

MazaCAM has continued to evolve to this day, and the goal has been to continuously advance this development and to be able to operate and cover new developments in the Mazatrol control area as quickly as possible. Today, with MazaCAM, we have the most technologically advanced offline programming system for Mazatrol worldwide.

So far the development is so far that we can program and control all machines and controls in the Mazak range.
